Facebook connecting parents and schools.

Facebook connecting parents and schools.

Many schools are starting to realise that a Facebook page helps improve communication between parents and schools. Pages can be used to announce events, meetings and give parents a communication channel to speak to the school and each other about their thoughts and concerns relating to the school. If parents want to contribute to the page all they have to do it click the page’s ‘like’ button and they will become a fan of the page. If they would prefer to just see whats gong on and how other parents feel about issued raised, they can simply visit the page. ‘Liking’ the page means if any events or posts are posted on the schools page they would come up automatically on their news feed. The page would be monitored strictly on a daily basis for any abuse of the facility and administrators can delete irrelevant or offensive comments. Administrators also have the power to block a person from using the page. The page would be set up so that only British and American computers and only over 18s can access it, to restrict access by students.  At Nuschools we offer to work alongside the schools social media team. We could be an administrator, checking your page daily. Update events and announcements and delete any unnecessary posts. We understand social media can be daunting for schools, that is why we offer to support the schools from creating the page to keeping it successful and safe. Facebook pages can be very useful on induction days for new parents. As it is ideal to answer transition enquiries from the primary school.  Social media presence encourages communication between parents and the school. By enabling parents to interact with one another in an environment that is safe and available 24 hours a day, the school is rewarded by having a more well – informed community that can see the school are listening and responding to their concerns. A Facebook page is perfect to advertise celebrating the students’ success with photographs, links and reports.
