School Website Redesign Case Study

School Website Redesign Case Study

We attended the Bett Show 2016 in London on 25 -28 January 2016. This is the largest learning technology event in the world and it attracted thousands of visitors. As part of our promotion we offered visitors the opportunity to win a website from our stand. At the end of the event the winner for our Free School Website Redesign competition was announced –  South Baddesley Church of England Primary School. This small primary school is located in the idyllic surroundings of the Hampshire countryside. Promoting Christian and British values, children are taught about democracy, rule of law, individual liberty, mutual respect and tolerance of those of different faiths and beliefs.

The Challenge

After winning the free School Website Redesign prize, Nuschools was tasked to create a modern, Mobile friendly and visually appealing website.  It needed to incorporate the school colours and logo within the design; and be interactive for parents, teachers and students as well as informative, with the ability to download PDF files. An at a glance calendar was desired so that everyone viewing the website could easily keep up to date with the many events held at the school including in and out of school activities.

The Website also needed to meet Ofsted requirements, allowing OFSTED to look at the website and immediately know the school’s location, with clearly visible school policies and accessibility to school documents online.  Nuschools is aware of all OFSTED requirements and we ensure that all school websites exactly meet the criteria.

The Strategy

What we did:

We chose a WordPress platform to make it easy for the site administrator to update information, add pages if required and be able to easily post blogs and newsletters.  We provided training and continue to do so whenever the site administrator has a query.

The Result

  • Mobile Friendly, modern design
  • News/blog and events section that can be updated daily
  • Traffic stats for April 2016 compared to April 2015
    • 53% increase in Users
    • 48% increase in Organic traffic (Search Engine Traffic)
    • 25% increase in Mobile and Tablet Traffic
    • 72% increase in Direct traffic

The website is easy to navigate, with comprehensive drop down menus that make it easy for visitors to find what they need at the click of a button.

South Baddesley School’s input and our own has resulted in a remarkably attractive, modern interactive website that meets OFSTED rules and regulations, and truly projects the ethos of who they are, what they do and how they do it.

Client feedback:

My experience of transferring our old website from Primary site to Nuschools has been painless and I think a great success.

In a very short timeframe, as the deadline for renewing our old contract was fast approaching, the developers from Numagoo worked tirelessly, often over weekends and holidays, to design a bespoke WordPress website to my Head Teachers exacting specification. The training and support I have had, and am still receiving, has been spot on. They are there to Skype with initial training and willing to answer my random questions as I pick up the reins. WordPress, once you get started, is quite easy, and any more complex behind the scenes tweaks Numagoo are happy to oblige with.

I look forward to becoming more proficient in WordPress and seeing where we can take the look of our website, with the help of Nuschools. Our new website looks much more professional, is now completely made to suit our needs and will grow as we do.

Thank you Nuschools/Numagoo.”
